WINTERSVILLE, Ohio (WTRF) - A second medical marijuana dispensary in Ohio is close to getting it's approval from the state, and it's in the Ohio Valley.
Ohio Valley Natural Relief in Wintersville just had a pre-inspection and is hoping for its final inspection within the next few weeks.
"Medicine is always evolving and cannabis is just it's the tip of the iceberg really with it," said Michael Petrella, Owner & CEO of Ohio Valley Natural Relief, LLC. "It's gonna start to evolve more and more and I think a lot of patients will be able to find relief using cannabis and it's something many of these patients have been waiting for a long time."
Until it's able to open, OVNR is training employees.
"There's a lot of foundational training and working with POS systems, security protocols," Petrella explained. "All those go into training with all employees and all staff."
Once it's able to serve customers, OVNR will offer medical marijuana to those who have physician rreferral and have any one of 21 pre-approved conditions.
"They'll be able to get plant-material and it's all pre-packaged," Petrella said. That will be the first thing for a little while until the rest of the processors in the state have other material."
The facility will also carry oils, patches and creams.
Ohio Valley Natural Relief will hold an open house for the public on Thursday, December 27 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
They hope to open officially in early January.
